  1.             CONFIGURING THE COMPUTER TO THE PROSKAN SSTV PROGRAM.

  8.        After you install the PROSKAN SSTV program into your computer, you
  9.      will see that when you run the program for the FIRST time, (by typing
  10.      in at the prompt, FSCAN.EXE & <Enter>, you may not be able to get to
  11.      the Main SSTV Screen untill you complete the 'CONFIGURE' requirements.
  12.      What will come up on screen is some important information. Read them
  13.      and hit <Enter> to continue on. Then the 'PRO_SKAN SSTV SYSTEM' screen
  14.      will appear on the left side. On the right side is information about
  15.      Copyrites, your Call being imbedded, etc.  Also notice that you can
  16.      use your Mouse and/or keyboard both here and on the SSTV screen.

  18.    1. On the 'Left Screen Box' select  "CONFIGURE SYSTEM"  <Enter>
  19.       A new screen will appear on the right side. Select (0), which is
  20.       "CALIBRATE CRYSTAL CLOCK"    <Enter>  and a Box will come up;
  21.       follow its instructions. A rough setting has been set in and it
  22.       must be adjusted by receiving a WFAX signal. The Vertical alignment
  23.       for receiving pictures as well as transmitting will be incorrect
  24.       untill you complete the 'CONFIGURE' requirements...

  26.    2. First select (F), which is  "SET FAX 800X600X16 VMode"  <Enter>.
  27.       { You can not calibrate the Crystal Clock untill you do this, and
  28.       also the FAX screen will not appear when selected. }
  29.       A selection box appears - Highlite the Video card that your computer
  30.       is using and hit <Enter> to lock it in. If you don't know what your
  31.       Video card is, select  (?), ENTER UNKNOWN;  A box will appear called
  32.       "CUSTOM VIDEO MODE", with instructions.  Hit <ENTER> to return back
  33.       to the CONFIGURE box.

  35.    3. Next Highlite (O), PORT ADDRESS, <ENTER>, Then Highlite the COM PORT
  36.       number that you are going to use. Hit <Enter> to lock it in. You can
  37.       change this anytime if you did it wrong. etc. You can't receive WFAX
  38.       or any pictures untill this is done.

  40.    4. When you have the above completed, tune your radio to a strong
  41.       WEFAX signal.  Here in Ct. we get it strong on 10.864 MHZ USB
  42.       but on some days we can't even hear it. In that case tune around
  43.       for another WEFAX station. Some WFAX frequencies are: 3.356, 8.078,
  44.       10.978, 10.538, and 14.927. Usually they are on 24 hours but they
  45.       do take breaks. Tune in on the strongest one. There are many others,
  46.       so hunt around.  By the way, all are Upper Side Band. USB
  47.  
  48.       While receiving the WEFAX picture for alignment purposes, try to
  49.       get the picture as straight as you can through adjusting the Clock
  50.       Frequency. This means that you have to go back to the Configure
  51.       screen at (0) to make the correction. You may have to do this a few
  52.       times, but it is worth it to receive straight pictures.
  53.       The BACKSPACE Key is used to delete the Frequency numbers one at a
  54.       time so you can type in the increase or decrease. Try 100 up or down
  55.       and see if it made the change in the rite direction on the incomming
  56.       WEFAX signal.  Hitting the <ENTER> key will lock it in.

  58.            A SSTV station can also be used in scottie one.

  64.    5. Next highlite (B), BASE TIMER 1 or 2. Hitting the <Enter> Key will
  65.       toggle it between 1 and 2. 
  66.        Put the timer operation in 2 for the remainder of the 
  67.        program..

  70.    6.  Next Highlite (A), "AUDIO TX SOURCE"  <ENTER>. A Box will appear
  71.       for you to enter your AUDIO TONES TRANSMIT SOURCE. (ie. computer
  72.       Serial Port or Computer speaker). View the file PSCANCBL.PCX for
  73.       cable making setups.  It is strongly advised for you to use the
  74.       Dual Interface for this program if you want outstanding
  75.       picture quality. To see this interface, view the file PS-BOARD.PCX
  76.       which is included with PROSKAN.

  78.    9. Highlite "EXIT" and hit <Enter>, to leave that setup Box. The Right
  79.       Setup Screen Box goes away.

  81.   10. With the Left setup screen remaining,  Highlite  (S),  for Slow
  82.       Scan, <Enter>. The Main SSTV Screen will appear!  WoW!

  86.     NOTE. Any of the above CONFIGURE settings can be changed at any time.
